Lake District Extreme Sports
Lake District Extreme sports, are they for you? ......For many people a gentle stroll around Wastwater or an ice cream while sat watching the swans on Windermere, is quite enough, thank you. But for others, the Lake District is the backdrop for something a lot more exciting.
Extreme Sports are now a major draw for many who come to cumbria, and I don't use the word 'extreme' lightly.
Hanging off a cliff edge as you abseil down a rock face or driving the latest Land Rovers over some of
the roughest yet stunningly beautiful hills in the country, really is an extreme way to get to grips
with the Lake District.
Check out our guide to the latest thrills and spills the Lake District has to offer. This page is all about Lake District extreme sports, however I intend to cover many activities that dont fit in with normally perceived Lake District activities. They may not be as breathtaking as launching yourself over a waterfall in one of the new, 'Dagger Style' short canoes, or Kite Surfing over breaking waves (Yes, you can kite surf in the Lake District)... but activities such as Clay Pigeon Shooting and Quad biking are becoming ever more popular. Many centers now include these activities in customised packages, and can tailor make a week end or short break to suit their visitors. 'Stag night' weekends regularly include Karting, Paintballing and Target Shooting as well as, of course, drunken debauchery for young men to kiss their bachelor days goodbye. Read our guides to what the Lakes has to offer for those looking for that little bit more.

Based in Keswick, AMI qualified instructor and mountaineering enthusiast, Chris Walker runs CW Mountaineering.
As a member of the British Alpine Club, Chris's passion for mountains and his skills in the field helped him create his climbing school.
Because of its central location, Chris and his team have access to some of the best crags, gullys, rock
faces and mountains in the whole of Lakeland, and with Chris's back catalogue of climbs including
peaks in Nepal, South America and the Swiss Alps, visitors are sure to be in safe hands.
Kankku driving adventures take place on wild off-road trail routes here in the Lake District
National Park. There are opportunities for individuals, groups and for those with their own 4x4's.
they also develop and run professional conference events, team building and incentive programs for companies.
Drive rough and rocky off road trails in breathtaking mountain surroundings, learn all the 4x4 skills
and at the same time take in breath taking mountain scenery.
Due to the very nature of taking a heavy off road vehicle in to the mountains, paths tracks and roads can
become extremely fatigued ... but Kankku's 'Fragile Earth' policy ensures the routes are driven in a way
that preserves them for future generations to enjoy.
Soaring over the the cumbrian fells harnessed to a "wing" must surely be one of the most thrilling ways of seeing the
Lake District ... and Sunsoar can make this dream come true.
