Lake District Weather

The Lake District weather really can change from minute to minute. I have been high on Green Gable (2500ft) surrounded by mist convinced that we are going to see very little all day ... when all of a sudden, the clouds cleared and within a minute I could see right out accross the irish sea and the outline of The Isle of Man.
However, what you need to remember is that the exact reverse can happen and within a few moments you can find a bright sunny day can turn in to a wipe out.
Always be prepared for this sort of event, make sure you dont just wander aimlessly around the fells and mountains. If you are on a track or path ... stay to it. Try and retrace your steps downhill if you feel continuing your journey would take you on a perilous route.
